The AIMN has developed a media release addressing issues with the Government-commissioned evaluation of the Cashless Debit Card in the East Kimberley, Ceduna and Goldfields trial sites, which was finally released on 17 February 2021. The evaluation was conducted by researchers at the Future of Employment and Skills research centre, University of Adelaide. As with prior Government-commissioned evaluations of and independent research on the impacts of the Cashless Debit Card, this most recent evaluation fails to demonstrate the success of the trials in achieving Government’s stated goals.
